Blackburn Pupils Share Important Safety Message

Our Green Hills site manager David Smith spent a day at Meadowhead Junior School in Blackburn recently to talk to the pupils about the potential dangers of playing near building sites.

The children then designed their own bright and colourful safety posters which will be displayed in the town.

The winning posters were designed by Deneth Fernando and Taylor Gregory who each won £25 of book tokens. All the pupils who submitted posters were also given special packets of sunflower seeds to plant, in keeping with the theme of nature at Green Hills.

Joanne Cottam, teacher at Meadowhead Junior School added: “Not only did the visit by Kingswood Homes educate our pupils on building site hazards, it also raised their interest in the diversity and excitement of working in construction, so hopefully we might have encouraged the next generation of building professionals.”

“Andrea Fortune, development manager at Kingswood Homes, added: “It’s clear from seeing the wonderful posters that the children really took on board the safety messages and they were keen to share what they had learnt.”

All the posters can be seen on our Green Hills Facebook page.
